Mikaila has wanted to work in the animal industry since she was in primary school, about age 7 or 8. She’s always been passionate about animals, so she felt that veterinary nursing was what she needed to do.
Her journey with AES started in August 2014 as a Veterinary Technology student on clinical placement. Shortly thereafter Mikaila began working as a nursing assistant with the Gold Coast team and has been employed as a veterinary nurse with AES since January 2015.
Since stepping foot inside the AES GC practice she knew that emergency and critical care nursing was her calling. She loves being a part of her patients’ treatment and recovery. Although, the best part for her is always seeing them go home with their families.
Mikaila loves the environment that is AES – the amazing staff, the high-tech facilities, the high standard of patient care and the large variety of cases that walk through the door.
She’s currently a member of the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia.
In her spare time, Mikaila loves 4-wheel driving, camping, spending time with her husband, her family, her cat and her 2 dogs. After night shifts she especially loves curling up on the couch with a good book and a coffee.
She has two beautiful girls, ‘Lucy’ a 13-year-old Australian Kelpie X Australian Cattle Dog and ‘Molly’ a 7-year-old Australian Cattle Dog. They are both so energetic and love to be with people.
Mikaila also has a cat named ‘Neo’, 9-month-oldld Domestic Short Hair X. He has two modes and no off switch – crazy and energetic or sleeping!
