Rebecca Blade is a Veterinary Nurse Assistance at Animal Emergency Service Tanawha on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Rebecca knew as soon as she started studying Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing she wanted to pursue a career in emergency veterinary medicine – and has found the job satisfaction the most rewarding part of her role.
Rebecca dubs every case she’s ever been involved with as being equally memorable. For her, the job satisfaction comes in seeing patients return to their owners. “Being able to contribute in some way to nurse a patient to care, and seeing them return home, has to be the most rewarding part of being a vet nurse.”
Rebecca gets the biggest thrill from unexpected caesareans. “There is something very special about hearing a newborn puppy cry for the very first time!”.

The fact our patients cant ‘tell’ us whats wrong. We have to start from the very beginning, working with amazing like minded people to treat the patient. No 2 cases are the same.
