Vet Student Placements

Animal Emergency Service and its’ veterinarians have a great passion in showing veterinary students the exciting world of Emergency Medicine. Veterinary students (in years’ 3, 4 & 5) can undertake placements at any of our practice locations to help develop practical skills and expand theoretical knowledge. Students studying a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine may also elect to complete a Vet rotation at one of our practices as part of their curriculum.

Along with students, we also encourage graduate vets and GP vets to spend time at AES to gain additional emergency and critical care exposure that may help if cases of a similar nature present in their practice.

In making the most of their time with us, we advise veterinary students to become part of our team, ask questions and get to know all about emergency by observing us in action and helping out where comfortable.

Placements generally take place for 2-4 weeks (approximately 3-4 shifts a week) that range from 8-12hours.
