Ali Stewart

Co Director/Practice Manager

Ali Stewart is the Co-Director at Animal Emergency Service Tanawha, located on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Describing her appointment within the animal industry as ‘through pure luck and determination’, Ali always wanted the opportunity to work with dedicated veterinary professionals, specifically in the area of critically ill and injured animals. She now describes herself as fortunate, in being able to not only work with animals – but in supporting other people too. Like many in the veterinary profession, Ali was naturally drawn to her role by a profound love for animals.

With so many meaningful cases coming to mind, Ali finds it hard to pick just one. However, she remembers well a Malamute who arrived at the emergency vet practice not well at all. The pooch loved to chew things up, and after a full examination it was discovered that the gorgeous pooch showed signs of ingesting something Ali describes as, ‘a little more sinister’. X-rays and an ultrasound discovered the ingestion, and later on, they found the poorly pooch had eaten some lacy underwear! Unfortunately, it wasn’t the first time this dog had ingested undergarments…

These are just some of the memorable patients that Ali has been able to assist her team in sending home. The joy of seeing vets diagnose and treat challenging cases with a successful outcome brings her to work every day. “For me, there is nothing more memorable than seeing a beloved pet return to their owners healthy and able to live a full life,” says Ali.

Tell us why you like working for Animal Emergency Service.

I enjoy working for a vet that provides top-quality emergency veterinary care every night. What would you say to an aspiring vet?

Being able to support a family and seeing a beloved pets health return after treatment is such an important part of what vets are able to do. Even more, seeing the joy on clients faces and their reaction when their beloved pet is able to be sent home is one of the best things about working for Animal Emergency Service. When clients say yo make a difference in their lives, even if it was just being sympathetic and showing compassion when helping someone’s beloved pet, brings extra fulfilment and job satisfaction. Most importantly – when you enjoy what you do it reflects in your attitude and demeanour at work.
