catl-poison_1The gestation period of a cat is approximately 9 weeks. This will vary among individuals so it is important to have regular check-ups with your cat’s veterinarian to monitor the pregnancy.

Some signs of pregnancy include:

  • a swelling abdomen,
  • enlarged nipples,
  • restlessness,
  • change in personality, or
  • an increase/decrease in appetite.

A veterinarian will be able to advise if your cat is pregnant. They’ll also be able to discuss medications, worming during pregnancy and tips to caring for mum and the kittens when they arrive.

If your cat is in labour and your vet is not available, please call Animal Emergency Service for advice.  We’re open every night, weekend and public holiday in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Emails are not monitored, please call if your enquiry is urgent.
