Animal Emergency Service Nurse, Tracey Gierke with dog

Tracey Gierke

Cert IV Veterinary Nursing

Tracey’s Veterinary Nursing career goes back many years to when she was still at High school, working on Saturday’s with an Equine Veterinarian in a Northern Victorian town. Growing up on a farm surrounded by many animals, especially horses, sheep, and dogs – working in the industry seemed like an obvious choice for her.

After years spent completing many different qualifications, Tracey became a qualified Cert IV Veterinary Nurse while working in a mixed practice here in Queensland. She then went on to become the Practice Manager but stayed hands-on as nursing has always been her true passion.

Eventually, Tracey found her calling with Animal Emergency Service in Brisbane, ‘being an emergency nurse is a fantastic life as you get the best of both worlds. You get to work an amazing job at night and live a very fulfilling life in the daytime.’

Tracey loves to keep fit by running and finds plenty of time for training with her dog in the local state forest, or hanging out on her paddle board (yes, again with her dog).

‘I truly love emergency nursing. There is nothing more rewarding than being in this fast-paced environment where you need to think on your feet, never knowing what is coming through those doors next. You know that you and your team are making a difference in the lives of the patient and it is extremely rewarding to be able to make that difference in the life of the human-animal bond.’

‘Working here at Animal Emergency Service is like having a second home with a family that works as a well-oiled machine, working together to deliver the best outcomes for our patients always. It is truly the best feeling to work with an awesome team.’
